Rockwood School District Annual Report 2025-2026

Points of Pride

At Wildwood Middle School, our vision to Educate and Enjoy is the foundation of everything we do. We believe that when students are healthy, happy, and supported, they are truly empowered to excel. Here are a few "Points of Pride" that show our vision in action this year:

Top-Tier Rankings and Academic Excellence

  • State and National Standing: WMS is consistently ranked among the best in Missouri. It currently holds the #5 spot for Best Public Middle Schools in Missouri (Niche 2026) and is ranked in the top 6% of middle schools statewide by U.S. News & World Report.
  • Exceptional Attendance: WMS leads all secondary schools in the district with an impressive 95.4% average attendance rate, showing commitment to being present and productive in school.
  • A Culture of Well-Being: Guided by our vision to Educate and Enjoy, we are committed to supporting the "whole child." By integrating feedback from student-advisory sessions, student surveys, and our meaningful service learning initiatives, we’ve seen growth in every category of student well-being this year. This progress is a direct result of the intentional work our counselors, social workers, teachers, and support staff do to ensure every Timberwolf feels seen, heard, and connected. Character and Community Culture sets the tone for learning at Wildwood Middle!
  • "Promising Practices" Recognition: WMS was nationally recognized by Character.org for its initiative, "Clubs Cultivate a Culture of Care." This program empowers students to lead clubs (like Best Buddies, Dungeons & Dragons, and Morning Running Club) that foster a sense of belonging.
  • Unified Champion School: WMS is a recognized Unified Champion School, demonstrating a deep commitment to inclusion for students of all abilities by providing support through collaboratively integrated classes.
  • Glory of Missouri Awards: Every year, WMS students are honored at the State Capitol for representing the 14 virtues (such as Knowledge, Honor, and Charity) that define the "Glory of Missouri."

Outstanding Staff and Support

  • The "Health Heroes": Led by our Nurse, custodial, and kitchen crews, maintaining a healthy school environment is a major point of pride for keeping the school healthy and operational, directly contributing to the school's record-high attendance.
  • Award-Winning Educators: Staff members from teachers and counselors to front office staff and custodians are recognized and awarded, embodying the dedication and "heart" that define the Wildwood staff culture. Awards: (2026 Cornerstone Award, National School Board Certification, AVCA Coach of the Year)
  • Collaborative Spirit: Teachers work in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to constantly refine their methods, ensuring that instruction is tailored to the needs of every student.

Service and Engagement

  • Community Giving: WMS has a massive heart for service, including annual traditions like the Veterans Day Program and the "Adopt-a-Family" holiday program.
  • Student Heroism: The school celebrates "Above and Beyond" moments, such as students being recognized by the Board of Education for their quick thinking and leadership during medical emergencies in their local community.
